In the Screen Resolution window, under Change the appearance of your displays , click and drag one of the monitors to its correct location vs. the other one. The Identity numbers don't matter.

Windows 7 - Display 'A' Philips primary display - Display 'B' IBM secondary display. A shows as Identity 2 and B shows as Identity 1. I want to reverse these. Reason is that the cursor currently travels from display B to A and I need it to go the other way - due to physical location of displays

2014-12-28T11:24:12+00:00 I have my primary monitor set as my main as vga as soon as I plug in my hdmi the hdmi becomes primary.
how do I turn hdmi into the secondary monitor and not number one. so when I press windows key+p to turn on primary screen only the monitor I have set as main shuts off. so why does the main monitor shut off? doesn't primary mean main? I know secondary does not mean main .

I disconnected both units and powered up the PC.
With only the PC display ( VGA socket ) connected this was number 1. Ok.
As soon as I connected the TV (HDMI ) , the PC display became number 2 and TV became number 1.
Yes, number 2 is my primary display....the logon screen eventually appears here but , as everybody else in this forum, I cannot see BIOS msgs. on my PC screen. They go to the TV.
I have this too. It didn't work for me, too. I still don't see Bios msgs on monitor, but on TV.
In Windows, primary display is monitor - number 1.

2014-10-26T00:25:52+00:00 I found a better and easier solution to switch to your monitor identity basically switching 1 and 2.
- Turn off computer fully.
- Disconnect all DVI or monitor display. (In my case i have Benq (DVI) and Samsung (HDMI).
- Turn on computer and wait until its in the Log in screen. (You won't actually see it since all monitor is disconnected. Just guess or wait till you hear the log in sound).
- Connect the monitor that you want to be Display 1st. (Extra: Log in and open up display settings where you see display 1 and 2 for visualization purposes.)
- Then connect the monitor that you want to be Display 2nd.
- And so on. Voila!! hope this helps.
