Hi,
Why Windows 7 is not providing the virtual desktops like in Mac or Linux ? It helps a lot in arranging the applications into various groups like personal, office etc and placing them on different desktops.

The download does not seem to be malware. I suggest you might scan the file with another Antivirus such as Microsoft Security Essentiasl and see if you come up with the same results.

I've developed an application because I wanted the same thing. My program is extremely lightweight and requires no configuring.
You install, or you can use the zip and just run it. Then use alt+ the number of the desktop to switch to it. Then alt+ctrl+number to send the active window to a desktop.
My program is open source and free.
The current desktop is shown in the tray on the icon, and the icon can optionally be hidden.

Awesome man. This is exactly the Ubuntu copy that I wanted.
This works perfectly and gives W7 the one thing in Ubuntu I liked best. Multiple Workspaces!
I have one program not playing by the rules, Digsby (messenger), and it shows up on all desktops all the time, both the contact and chat windows remain on every instance of the desktop. But I can live with that, just keep them minimized when not reading/typing in them.
The hotkeys for switching are one thing Ubuntu didn't have (or I didn't discover it) and I like being able to use keyboard shortcuts wherever I can remember them. This one is a piece of cake. Alt-* and Alt-Ctrl-*. Simple and effective and this will help my productivity so I can separate a few work projects onto their own desktops and have another for personal stuff, then switch between them as needed. Awesome!

Jason's utility here IS genius, I love it, it gives me the one thing I loved most about Ubuntu into W7.
Anil, I use a Samsung monitor with something called Dynamic Contrast. I found that I had this same issue when changing to a desktop with a lot of white space. It would make the monitor very bright. So I turned that off and went with a different contrast setting. Maybe this has something to do with your issue if you're on an LCD or LED monitor?
