Can't move shortcut icons on my desktop to different locations on the desktop

I cannot move my desktop shortcut icons around on my desktop.  Think it has something to do with the auto-allign feature - how do I fix this ?

Right-click desktop, click View, and uncheck Auto arrange icons.

    I disconect and reconect the mouse and works for me .

    The esc key solution is bogus.  Can't move icons around in Explorer no matter what I change.

    Yup once I disabled Fences I could now move desktop icons. I also am too cheap to pay for 2.0 but I love the program. Thanks for the tip.
