I cannot move my desktop shortcut icons around on my desktop. Think it has something to do with the auto-allign feature - how do I fix this ?

Try uninstalling Google Chrome completely, and then, after you've made sure your issues with the mouse buttons, or whatever bizarre thing has maybe triggered this glitch, have been resolved...THEN try reinstalling Google Chrome. Can't hurt anything, maybe it'll fix the issue. Good luck 😊!
To be honest, I've tried most of the ideas offered by more educated folks on this thread, and was successful, but only to part of the problems. I'm unsure what may have triggered the issues, possibly the cause was a stuck mouse button, as all other causes, such as auto-align, were configured correctly. Google Chrome developers have been notably MIA about this problem, as is obvious from the amount of people replying on this page and length of time it's been here. Its only happened on one PC, but tho I can now move my icons, the 'tabs closing by itself' issue on that PC remains, to this day. I can use tabs correctly in Internet Explorer, on the same PC, but Google Chrome continues to have that problem. What we need is for Google Chrome's techs to get off their lazy butts and address the glitch, in my opinion.
did you solve this as that is exactly what the pc is doing, the chrome browser closing tabs on its own etc
I too had this problem - my auto arrange was not checked, so I checked it, then all the icons went to the left. I unchecked it and did it again, then the icons started to move again.
