In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem. I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it. They put in a fix that worked. Microsoft. It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.
I only use the pad, no mouse is attached to my Surface.
No one had a solution to the disappearing, jumping, highlighting to delete cursor problem. I Googled, I watched YouTube videos, I ended up here. Some said they had solutions but they were apparently not universal solutions.
And when I looked at the mouse settings and thought about it the solution to the problem was pretty simple … as it usually is, while we tend look at the problem as if it is complicated, I guess.
Both the mousepad and the mouse connected via USB were active and somehow confusing the computer. I merely turned the mouse pad off (I hate the darn things) and saw that the mouse on the USB was being recognized. Now the problem is solved. The cursor isn't jumping, disappearing or (the real horror of it all) jumping to a word or paragraph to highlight it so that the highlighted writing was deleted via the next key stroke, whatever key, which was the weirdest part of the problem for me.
So anyone out there with the same problem, using a separate mouse but having a mouse pad on your laptop, here's a simple solution to try. And this from a knuckle-dragging technological Neanderthal! :-)

Microsoft Office 365. It comes with some laptops and gives you Office for a year and then you must renew. I don't like the idea. Seems you could end up spending more money on MS Office, plus have to deal with renewals all the time, so I'd rather buy it outright. And I did, but while my computer tells me MS Office Student and Home has been installed, each program I open, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OpenNote, the only ones that come with Student and Home, have under the name of the program "365" and it looks like I got screwed there. If MS did the old switcheroo with me I may dump it and use Apache or some other Office like system.
BTW, I fixed my jumping cursor problem that was also highlighting words and whole paragraphs to delete upon the next key stroke, any key stroke. It turned out to be idiotically simple, as is usually the case. I am using a mouse connected via USB. I don't like laptop mouse pads. The computer was getting mixed signals or something like that. I saw in the mouse settings that the laptop recognized it's mousepad but it said nothing of the mouse on the USB. I shut the mousepad off and with the mouse via USB everything is fine now. No jumping, disappearing, highlighting to delete, cursor problems!
