In every application on my computer, my cursor jumps around while typing. I can not type fast because I have toconstantly bring the cursor back to where I am typing (just did it again right now). Something is wrong and needs to be fixed. I am not technical and have no idea how to fix or what forum this question belongs in. Please advise.

To all who have been having 'cursor jumps around while typing' problem.  I had the same problem and had my Sony VAIO support team help me with it.  They put in a fix that worked.  Microsoft.  It would be beneficial if you could contact Sony regarding this problem and access to the solution they put in place for me, since they seem to have found a solution to the problem.

I found a solution on eHow, of all places.  If you have an Acer, you can disable the touchpad by holding down the fn button, and then F7 will disable the touchpad.  It is actually working and saving my brain from exploding.

I hate touchpads, and always use a wireless mouse instead.  Whoever invented touchpads should be given forty lashes with a wet noodle.  They should at least put the touchpad over to the side instead of right in front of the keys, where the wrists can so easily tap it involuntarily.

    DOWN WITH TOUCHPADS

Nothing anyone has mentioned has helped, until I found an answer on another blog. It was suggested to simply press F3 or F9 when in Word.  I presses both, one after the other, and the problem is fixed!!!

My cursor was jumping around on my wireless mouse, and found out it was weak batteries, and that fixed that part.  I also downloaded all the latest Windows 7 updates and everything seems to be doing okay for the time being.  Hope this helps somebody.

I was reading about this problem on another website. A young genius seems to have found the answer. The cursor jumping around, and the cursor freezing, in certain laptops, appears to be due to the buildup of static electricity. I may have found a simple solution. All housewives are familiar with static electricity....so I simply ran a dryer sheet over my touchpad. It worked. My cursor stopped jumping around.
