When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.

How do I make the ADDS available?

Hello Dick Bard,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:

>Go to Control Panel

> Select Printers

> Right-click on Add Printer

> Select Run as Administrator

Now try to add your network printer.

Please let me know if this helps J

I have same issues with Windows 10. As you know that control panel in windows 10 is a little different from the older control panel, there is no Printers option there. How to fix this problem? Please help...

    You may need this:

    1. Open Administrative Tools by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Administrative Tools.
    2. Double-click Services. ...
    3. Right-click the Print Spooler service, and then click Properties.
    4. Then if the status says "Stopped" just press "start" and you shoukd be all good.

Thank you so much, this worked!  I never would have found the Print Spooler and that somehow it had switched to Stopped.  You are my saviour!

Nothing has worked for me - I have tried all these options (and more) and still I have no printing facility from my laptop.  All wireless communications seem to have been severed with the main desk computer so, although I have internet access via the same router, I can no longer access shared documents on the other computer, nor even see that computer in the network centre.  It's crazy - it just happened out of the blue with no changes since the last time it was all working.
