When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.
I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.
How do I make the ADDS available?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:
>Go to Control Panel
> Select Printers
> Right-click on Add Printer
> Select Run as Administrator
Now try to add your network printer.

Go into Control Panel, Printers and click Add New Printer. Click Network Printer, and then click Browse for Printer and when you find it add it. See if this helps.

By switching Comodo's Defense+ service to off and restarting Word, the printer automagically appeared. There was no mode in which Defense+ allowed me to print using Word 2010 ONLY. I could print in any other application. This is strange, but then again why Word needs access to virtual drives like Q: is strange. Sorry Comodo, but problem solved for me.
I am runningVista Business and Word 2010.
Suddenly after my computer man changed our antivirus to Comodo.
I get this error message when I try to print.
'No printers installed'
When I try and add a printer I receive this message.
'The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable'
When I check my control panel all my printers are installed.
Our computer man says this is a problem with Word 2010 and that Microsfoft are aware of it
but do not know how to fix it.
Is this true?
Please help find a solution that works.

I have the same problem. Excel 2010 says "No printers installed." However, it lists all of the printers that ARE installed. Add printer doesn't work because of the Active Directory Domain service problem mentioned in the original question, which has not been addressed in any of these answers. I do not have a domain server, just a home network. Furthermore, Excel was printing until yesterday, when I had a problem starting Windows 7. The printer troubleshooter suggested making the problem printer the default printer, but couldn't accomplish that task. No details available. In fact, there is no default printer set, and Windows won't let me set one as the default, quoting error 0x00000709 as the reason, and advising me to check the printer name and make sure the printer is connected to the network. Interestingly, Word 2010 prints just fine.
