clicking Find Printer shows error "The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable" i am on a home network

When I try to "Find Printer (in MSWord, e.g.) I get the message: The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable.

I'm running Vista Ultimate (SP2) on a home network; and I'm the Administrator.

How do I make the ADDS available?

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Answers forum! To add to Lorie – One’s suggestion, please try following the steps below:

>Go to Control Panel

> Select Printers

> Right-click on Add Printer

> Select Run as Administrator

Now try to add your network printer.

    I have tried the re-install printer thing and it doesn't work for me.

    What work so far is:

    run the services.msc from Start (I'm running windows 8)

    restart the "Network Connected Devices Auto-Setup"

    change the default startup type to automatic

    hope it helps...

    You can tell it's a "rights" issue, if "Update Driver" is grayed out.

    I just solved this problem (took about 4 hours).

    This is a "rights" issue.

    "Run as Administrator" is not available in home versions of Win 7.

    The installation must be performed from the REAL administrator account, not just a user in the Administrators group.

    To enable the REAL Administrator account, go to a command window and type:

    "net user administrator /active:yes"

    This command will enable the REAL administrator account.

    Log back on as real administrator (Set a password too.).

    Perform all installations using the real Administrator account.
