I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

    I have a 1TB hard drive and my laptop is only about 1 month old. , and has Windows 10 on it.  Defrag did 7 passes and took about 35 mins.

    I'm on pass 22, but it's definitely faster now than it was in the beginning.

    Not a good idea. Defragging a hard drive helps programs respond much fadter ny putting peices of foles back together so they are accessed faster.
