How many passes before defrag finishes?

I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

my HD is of 500GB. And currently on Pass 10

I realize this is an old post but i'm sure people are still asking this question 3 years later. I am running Windows 8.1 with a 1TB hard drive. It took 8 passes and maybe 20 to 25 minutes to finish. I should tell you that my computer is only 1 month old and I have about 880GB of the 1TB left on the drive. :)

mine is on pass 64 ? i have ran these before and it only ever went to 19
