I am try to defrag my hard drive. It's on its 4th pass in 24 hours. How many passes does it make before it's done?

have seen as high as 7.

they seem to get faster the further along it goes.

look into using AUSLOGICS degragger instead.

faster and also has an option to move system files to the front.

    I'm at 32 passes in two hours mate.  Nothing new there.  It's a 1tb hdd.  It depends largely on how much space you have used.  Mine has about 250gb left so it's taking a lot of time and passes to organize all that data.  It's like the tower of Hanoi.  Well...speak of the devil.  It finished at 32 passes! :D

    Pass 27 and still going...maybe it ends on some sort of criteria.  Like, how much it has annoyed the user.  If we shout and scream more, maybe it'll keep going.

    500GB HDD...
