I drove my self crazy trying to remedy this dilema for two days. I finally downloaded a program from Stardock called Windows Blinds. That solved my problem.

I noticed that someone else had this problem. Does anyone know how to fix it?

2013-01-11T05:43:25+00:00 I did this - following someone's advice which I coulodn't or didn't dare todo, :
In the Windows Explorer, go to primary drive, find Users and look for your user name then click AppData then Roaming then Microsoft/Windows/Themes and there eliminate Transcoded Wallpaper.jpg
After I had done this I could click on desktop (your computer screen) then click Personalize, then
on the bottom click Desktop Background and from there just follow instructions to get your image or slide show entered.

2013-01-11T00:03:04+00:00 Try opening the photo file with your Internet browser and when the photo is up right click and select 'Use image of Desktop' or 'Set as Background' something along those lines, try this might help if you still have a problem.

2012-12-24T00:15:27+00:00 This worked for me perfectly! Only thing was that I couldn't find any "CORRUPTED FILES" right off the bat. I had to select " view hidden files" (under the folder option) , then I was able to find them. After deleting everything in that folder, I was able to change my desktop backgrounds/ themes again.

2012-12-11T13:26:48+00:00 Ty the IT Guy is totally right. On most laptops and computers the manufacturer puts some godawful picture as the default background and sometimes the manufacturer doesn't want you to change that. Just delete said godawful picture.
