Java is not in the Internet Options of the Advanced tab

I HAVE A VISTA HOME PREMIUM COMPUTER. I UPGRADED THE JAVA TO 6U13.  AFTER THE UPGRADE THE JAVA WOULDN'T WORK. I CALLED HP AND IT WAS DECIDED TO RESTORE THE COMP TO THE ORIGIONAL STATE WHEN BOUGHT AND WAS TOLD TO REDOWNLOAD JAVA, BUT FIRST I DID ALL THE WINDOWS UPDATES FIRST. THEN DOWNLOADED THE JAVA  AND STILL DIDN'T WORK. UNINSTALLED AND DOWNLOADED AN EARLIER VERSION STILL DIDN'T WORK. THROUGH TRIAL AND ERROR I DISCOVERED THAT THE JAVA ICON WAS NOT IN THE INTERNET OPTIONS ON THE ADVANCED TAB. CALLED HP BACK AGAIN AND THEY WENT THROUGH THE SECURITY WITH ME AND TOLD ME TO REDOWNLOAD IT AGAIN AND THAT SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I WENT TO JAVA .COM FOR THE DOWNLOAD. CHECKED THE VIRTUAL MACHINE AND THE MAN DANCED SAID IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. i FOUND THE 6U13 IN THE CONTROL PANEL AND IN THE ADD REMOVE PROGRAMS. I WAS TOLD TO GO TO THE START  AND TYPE IN JAVA. THE RESULTS WAS NO ITEMS FOUND. THEN WAS TOLD THAT IT DOWNLOADED TO THE COMP BUT DIDN'T KNOW WHERE. IT MUST HAVE NOT DOWNLOADED TO C DRIVE. ALSO WHEN THE COMP WAS RECOVERED EVEN THOUGH I HAD THR DISC TO THE PRINTER IT SAID IT WASN'T COMPATABLE HAD TO GO AND DOWNLOAD THE DRIVER OFF THE INTERNET TO GET IT TO WORK. ALSO ONCE THE JAVA WAS LOADED IT SAID IT WASN'T COMPATABLE THATS WHY I WENT TO AN EARLIER VERSION. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM. I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THAT THE INTERNET PROVIDER IS AOL. THANK YOU

    Well, use this anti-virus microsoft essential security instead of AVG. use this link  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials  to find Java Go to click on Start left hand lower corner of your computer then click on Control Panel you will see Java icon

    I have reset the advanced settings and I still am having trouble with Pogo in Internet Explorer 9 only.  I didn't have any problem with IE8 until it updated to IE9 and then all of a sudden I coldn't sign in to Pogo.  Every time I attempt this it comes right back to the Welcome Guest page.  I did once revert back to IE8 and didn't upgrade till a few weeks ago when I forgot about the problem and aloud all the upgrades to be installed.

    I used t o have the same problems that everyone else is having with other browsers, but it was because I was on dial up.  As soon as I went to cable those problems dissapeared.  But this problem still exists.

    I run on Windows 7, 64 home

    Last year I ran Kapersky for antivirus (which a few people thought was the problem) but this year I am running AVG and still have the problem with IE9.

    IE's Advanced Options does not show Java at all.  The Java Console Advanced options had Internet Explorer checked, but it is grayed out and I can not get it to darken up.  I even changed IE to default browser and still no change.

    How can I get the gray to change to black so IE9 will acknowledge Java?

    This problem is too illogical for me to solve this.  LOL

    Just to clarify- It is a fact right that when using Vista Home Premium 32 bit  and having java installed (^ update 23) That when you go to

     'Tools>InternetOptions>Advanced Tab

    That under settings you will NOT see a java entry there

    Is that true?
