Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is missing on my computer

I am trying to upload pictures from my digital camera and it goes to a box for cds , (like I want to put it on a cd) not the normal one that comes up for putting pictures in a file. I looked for " Windows Picture and Fax Viewer " and can not find it on my computer anywhere. I have no idea where it went. PLEASE help me recover this. I did a system restore back to when it was there, and still it is not there.

Just to verify...you must be running Win XP (not Vista) to

have WP&FV...

The following command should force a reinstall of WP&FV...

Go to...Start / Run and type

(or copy/paste):

regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll

(yes, the space after the 2 and the space

after the i is required)

Press...Enter...

You should see a dialog box that says:

DllRegisterServer and DllInstall in shimgvw.dll succeeded

I am also missing WP&FV on my computer. I am using Windows XP Professional. I ran egsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll and it said windows cannot find "egsr32".

Please help!!!

Go to...Start / Run and type

I have a similar problem and wonder if you might have a solution for me. I am running XP and have always used the WP&FV and then I would click on edit and get the Windows Picture editor. Now, instead I get a pop up window asking where I want to move the file. I upgraded to IE8 recently, but that's about all I've changed.
