WMP constantly updating everytime it is opened.
This would go on for 10 min. and I could not play a song or playlist until it was done on an i7 core-6gb tri channel
ddr3/ Win7 64bit Ultimate. Didn't seem right.
Turns out that it is a picture problem for me. I am an Amature photographer and have around 100gb of pictures
on my computer. I add 20-30 sometimes 150 pictures on any given day. It appears that everytime I added pictures to the picture library and later open WMP it would re-scan the entire library. You can tell windows to
not index that location and that may work (did not try it) but after some thought I went this way.
since I do not want to fill my system HDD up with my pictures anyway ,I simply moved all of my pictures to a larger storage drive on my system in a folder appropriately named "My Pictures". Since The picture link in start menu does not Point to any pictures
anymore I removed it to save confusion. I then created a shortcut for the new "My Pictures" folder and placed it in the
"Pinned" section of start menu (right click folder or short cut "pin to start menu" ) or drag it there. Now I have an accessable picture folder again.
My media player opens and is available for play after a few sec. now. It has not spent the morning updating since.
Hope this helps
