**Original Title**nvlddmkm.sys causes BSOD

Hi,

I can't start Vista since a week or so. Just before the login screen should apear, it crashes into a BSOD, reporting that the problem is the nvlddmkm.sys driver.

I've been checking the Internet for days now (a lot of forums), and it seems to be a "common" problem, occuring with all kinds hardware and software configurations. I've tried just about everything to fix it, but nothing seems to work.

Is there a solution for this problem?

Hi Maarte61,

Sorry to your having so much trouble. Since your having the same issue even when the driver was rolled back, it leads me to believe even more so, that it could be card itself. You might try contacting the cards manufacturer. We could rule this out though, if you have another video card we can try. Do you have one you could test?

Thanks again,

Jason

Hi Maarte61,

Unfortunately, my guess would be the driver or the card itself. Since it worked fine for while, then just stopped. My best guess would be the card's the issue. Can you cancel the driver install when you get to normal mode? If so, I would try canceling it and downloading the new driver. Or if your in "Safe mode with networking" I'd go ahead and download them them and have them ready. So if you can cancel, you wouldn't have to go download them. Let us know and thanks again for posting.

Thanks,

Jason

    Lavida,

Thank you for posting your question in the Answers Community.

I would like to ask you a couple of questions so we may better assist you.

    1.   Does your computer freeze on a Black screen or a Blue Screen?

    2.   What is the error that you are getting? (Please post exact error)

    3.   Try to describe when it freezes as best as you can. For example: Right after the BIOS logo, after I see the Windows logo, but before the login page. (After this and before this)

    4.   How long have you had this issue for?

    5.   Have any new hardware/programs been installed recently or around the time this issue started happening?

    6.   Is this computer custom built? If so what is the model of the motherboard and video card?

    7.   If this is not a custom built computer please provide the model number of the computer.

Please let us know if you do not understand a question.

    Thanks.

Hello guys! I was so happy to see this forum and thread. Unfortunately i have the same exact problem, can´t get vista to start, only in "safe" mode, donno what´s it called in english. When i try to start windows, it shows the acer logo with some pink stripes on it then it just freezes on black screen, just like you, same codes and all.

Anyway, you guys any solution for this yet? I am really despered!

P.S. My comp worked today for 3 hours untill freezeing. I donno why but it just did start up normally after trying 6 days.... Anyway, back to square 1 now. Now at least i know my card isnt broken, it´s just the drivers!
