Cd won't rip using Windows Media Player in windows 7

I just got Windows 7 a few weeks ago and have had no trouble until now to rip cds.

It now however shows "windows media player cannot rip one or more tracks from the cd"

I have gone into TOOLS - OPTIONS - DEVICES - DRIVE , clicked Use error connection (both playback and rip are defaulted to digital) No change

I have gone to RIP MUSIC tab and tried to slide the Audio Quality bar and/or change the rip format, but when I do I get "the settings for ripping music could not be suppied" and they reset to original settings.

I have gone into Registry Editor and deleted the low rate MP3 encoding rate and still no change - it just keeps giving me the  "windows media player cannot rip one or more tracks from the cd".

any ideas??????????

Open WMP

Go into Tools - Options - Rip Music and see if you have a location the music is being ripped to. I didn't when I looked, it was blank.

then go to Organise - Manage Libraries - Music, there should be a music folder location here, if there isn't press "add" and add the music folder.

Now do the same for the other 3 libraries, Videos, Pictures and Recorded tv, all should have locations, delete the ones without a location.

try to rip again.

hopefully like me you will be off and running again.

    MaryScully: in WMP's library, please click Organize, and select Manage libraries - Music . What locations are listed there? If there are any unavailable locations, remove them, and also make sure that a Default save location is set. Do the same for the other libraries (Videos, Pictures, Recorded TV).

    If that doesn't help, close WMP, open Windows Explorer, right-click the Music library, select Properties, and click Restore Defaults. After that, make sure that a save location is set (as indicated by a checkmark).

    Joan: are you sure that you inserted an actual audio CD and not a data CD containing MP3 files?
