Cd won't rip using Windows Media Player in windows 7

You don't actually "uninstall" or "re-install" WMP, you "unload" then "reload" it  [this procedure will effectively provide a new installation of WMP anyway].  That's why there is no download available. 

1  Unload WMP - Control Panel, Programs and Features, [left-hand side] Turn Windows features on or off, Media Features, clear Windows Media Player checkbox, Yes, OK, Restart the PC.

2  Reload WMP - Control Panel, Programs and Features, [left-hand side] Turn Windows features on or off, Media Features, set the Windows Media Player checkbox, Yes, OK, Restart the PC.

Information that is stored in the database or the database itself can become corrupted. The Windows Media Player library database can usually recover automatically from database corruption. Here’s how you resolve corrupted library.

1. Exit Windows Media Player.

2. Click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

Note You do not have to delete the folders that are in this folder.

4. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

5. Run Windows Media Player.

If this does not resolve the problem, clear the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Exit Windows Media Player.

2.  click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click Delete on the File menu.

4. Restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

This should fix the issue.

Thank you. By following your instructions my media player is ripping fine again. Between step 3&4, I also unchecked the analogue box and checked the digital boxes. Great fix for a very perplexing problem  well done.

Open WMP

Go into Tools - Options - Rip Music and see if you have a location the music is being ripped to. I didn't when I looked, it was blank.

then go to Organise - Manage Libraries - Music, there should be a music folder location here, if there isn't press "add" and add the music folder.

Now do the same for the other 3 libraries, Videos, Pictures and Recorded tv, all should have locations, delete the ones without a location.

try to rip again.

Thank You, i was having the same issue, which started 2 days after i last used it and after i had recieved some Win7 updates. I ripped my discs to an external USB drive, then 2 days later, can't rip or change the location (subfolder category) and nothing was displayed in the destination field. Thanks again.

This did not help me.  I had a folder listed for each.  Still doesn't work.  Any suggestions????
