Cd won't rip using Windows Media Player in windows 7

I just got Windows 7 a few weeks ago and have had no trouble until now to rip cds.

It now however shows "windows media player cannot rip one or more tracks from the cd"

I have gone into TOOLS - OPTIONS - DEVICES - DRIVE , clicked Use error connection (both playback and rip are defaulted to digital) No change

I have gone to RIP MUSIC tab and tried to slide the Audio Quality bar and/or change the rip format, but when I do I get "the settings for ripping music could not be suppied" and they reset to original settings.

I have gone into Registry Editor and deleted the low rate MP3 encoding rate and still no change - it just keeps giving me the  "windows media player cannot rip one or more tracks from the cd".

any ideas??????????

Open WMP

Go into Tools - Options - Rip Music and see if you have a location the music is being ripped to. I didn't when I looked, it was blank.

then go to Organise - Manage Libraries - Music, there should be a music folder location here, if there isn't press "add" and add the music folder.

Now do the same for the other 3 libraries, Videos, Pictures and Recorded tv, all should have locations, delete the ones without a location.

try to rip again.

hopefully like me you will be off and running again.

    I really need some help!!! None of the remedy steps listed have helped me. I have tried each of the steps listed above and I still cannot rip my music.

    OMG! Thank you! thank you! thank you! thank you! lol! It worked great for me ripping cd now! :)

    I tried all that other stuff and this works for me! I guess wmp needs a upgrade or something! Thanks again!

    I just followed your tips with one small change because I already had folders showing but still no rip (step 5 is the extra bit):

    1. Open WMP
    2. Go to the now playing screen
    3. CLick Organise - Manage Libraries - Music

    4.  If you don't have an libraries showing add them.

    1. Once you have added your libraries (or if you already had them showing) right click and set a default library.  This will designate where WMP will rip music to

    This solved my problem and the CD started ripping instantly.

    Looks like a bug for windows media player to fix in their next round of updates.
