Optiarc DVD RW AD-7560A ATA DEVICE don't work

My DVD/CD ROM don't work.  Device Manager shows a "!" on the Optiarc DVD RW AD-756A ATA DEVICE.

 1. Device status shows ( this device cannot start. (code 10) ).

 2. Updated Driver....shows the that best driver software for device is already installed.

 3.  This is the manufacture driver.

 4. Driver provider- Microsoft, Driver version-6.0.601. 18000, Manufacturer-(Standard CD-ROM drives)

    Hope enough information.. oh, my computer is laptop Windows Vista-Service Pack 1,  Sony VAIO- VGN-NR22OE.

    Thankful for any advice..

Hi Nikki 801,

Can you please attempt these steps?  Please be very cautious when editing the registry.  If you would please not delete anything just yet.  If you would please perform the following steps....If Upper and Lower Filters is not within this Registry Key, please simply exit the registry. 

To resolve this problem, remove the affected filter drivers. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start

, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. 2. Locate, and then click the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Caution There can be many instances of the registry subkey that is mentioned in step 2. You must make sure that you are in the appropriate registry subkey before modifying the UpperFilters and the LowerFilters values. To verify that you are in the appropriate registry subkey, make sure that the Default data value is DVD/CD-ROM and the Class data value is CDROM. 3. In the right pane, right-click UpperFilters, and then click Delete. 4. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the UpperFilters registry entry. 5. In the right pane, right-click LowerFilters, and then click Delete. 6. Click Yes to confirm the removal of the LowerFilters registry entry. 7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.

    Hi Miller, i did as you suggested. but when i went back to a prev date, it only shows back til may 9th, 2008. but i need to go back till the end of December.. how do i do that?

    That sounds like that could be related - could you elaborate on the "deleted Wins32" part?

    I would recommend setting a restore point for today and then attempting to restore back to December or January before these changes occurred.

    To set a System Restore Point perform the following:

    -Click the Start Orb and type MSCONFIG and hit Enter

    -If Prompted by UAC click Continue

    -Click the Tools Tab and highlight System Restore and click the Launch button

    -At the Bottom of the new Window Click "Open System Protection"

    -The System Properties window will open to the System Protection Tab click the Create... button on the bottom right

    Type in a distinctive name for your restore point that you will remember and click Create

    NOTE: Running system restore will uninstall all programs that were installed after the date chosen.  Any data however saved on the machine in the form of documents will be left unchanged, program data is also left unchanged but may be overwritten during reinstallation later.

    To Restore you system to a previous date:

    -Go back to the previous window: System Restore

    -Click Choose a different restore point and select a date and time that you are sure is before the explained changes

    Miller, thanks again for surching, My Model is PCG-7113L.  And my Make would be i think, Sony VAIO computer ( VGN-NR220E )

     Let me ask a question, if i deleted Roxio and Wins32 from my Uninstall or change a program, would that do something the the drive? thats the only thing i can think that i did inbetween Jan. and Feb.

    Nikki 801, what is the make and model of your computer?  As this is a driver issue we will want to check for drivers avaiable on the vendor's website.

    Looking at the Sony Optiarc website I am not seeing the AD-7560 listed: Optiarc Support

    I have also located an article regarding editing the registry for cases in which CDs are not detected in the CD-ROM but we would cerrtaintly want to get this driver issue corrected first.
