Trying to watch netflix movies and getting an error code of 6003: silverlight does not seem to be working.

I talked to a netflix technical assistant tonight and he tried to help me with this problem, but was unsuccessful.  The error code I receive from Netflix is N8156-6003.  He walked me through many different procedures to fix the problem and nothing seems to be working.  He even directed me to try tinyurl.com/netflixsl and after the individualizing it goes to opening and stays there.  My laptop is on 8 months old and is not used very often, not sure what the issue is, Netflix seems to think it is a problem with microsoft, please help.

Hello, Nea5577

After loading the page to watch a video, right click the applet, then click Silverlight.

On the Playback tab ensure that the “Enable download...” option is selected.

On the Application Storage tab, click Delete all to clear any cached files.

    Hello,

If you are getting a different error than N8156-6003, please create a new thread for troubleshooting.

Assuming you use Internet Explorer, go to Start, type  iexplore in the search box then right click on iexplore.exe and choose Run as Administrator. In Internet Explorer, go to Netflix and try to watch a video. If it plays successfully, close out of Internet Explorer completely (close all windows) then open IE again normally and (hopefully) you should be able to stream.

If you are using a different browser, the above steps can be applied to them as well, right click on the browsers shortcut then Run as Administrator and watch a video and if it works close out of the browser completely then open it normally and try again.

The first few days I had netflix instant watch it worked fine. Never did anything different with the computer. Few days later started getting this message. Spent time on the phone with CS and they eventually said it was Microsoft silverlight that was to blame. Way to go! Still doesnt fix the problem. my username is an administrator. As most are on any computer. Who doesnt select a user name as administrator anyway? I have spent countless hours searching online. Nothing that actually fixes the problem. If it isnt fixed before the free month is up then I am done and will cancel it. If anyone finds some magic fix for this please help! thanks.

Ok so I fixed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! for now. All I did was go into IE internet options. Under trusted sites I typed http://www.netflix.com

Found that on another forum and thought "thats too easy" and afterwards I loaded a netflix movie. Freaking stupid! I have been at this for days. And thats all it was? Im sure a new problem will arise. Good luck. Let me know if that works for you.
