I talked to a netflix technical assistant tonight and he tried to help me with this problem, but was unsuccessful. The error code I receive from Netflix is N8156-6003. He walked me through many different procedures to fix the problem and nothing seems to be working. He even directed me to try tinyurl.com/netflixsl and after the individualizing it goes to opening and stays there. My laptop is on 8 months old and is not used very often, not sure what the issue is, Netflix seems to think it is a problem with microsoft, please help.

After loading the page to watch a video, right click the applet, then click Silverlight.
On the Playback tab ensure that the “Enable download...” option is selected.
On the Application Storage tab, click Delete all to clear any cached files.

Called Netflix this is what they told me to do. In windows xp go to start then run type in %allusersprofile% press enter. A new menu will show up look for the folder name Application Data click on it, then look for folder Mircosoft click on it, click on folder named Playready then delete file MSPR.hds. Restart Netflix and it should work did for me. Good luck.
Excellent! This has worked for me. I use Windows XP which couldn't locate the 'playready' folder as suggested by others using other formats.
But following your suggestion, I found it and deleted the mspr.hds file. Netflix is now up and running again.

Program Data can be a hidden file. You can either change your listed files by going to tool, internet options, advanced, then click view hidden files; or you can go to Start and type %program data%, enter and proceed from there.
By the way, this fix did not work for me. I am still having the same issue.
Microsoft support specialist are extremely lazy and of no help what so ever. You will be lucky if you get anything different from the first "copied and pasted" effortless response from Microsoft. There are tons of problems with Microsoft programs and operating systems but NO REAL SUPPRT from Microsoft what so ever. When you get any response from Microsoft, whether it corrects the issue or not, Microsoft considers the issue "Answered" and the case closed. The only way a person/customer of Microsoft products ever gets anything resolved is to hope that someone else has figured out how to fix the issue (that thousands are dealing with at the same time) while hoping that the same person who has figured out how to fix the problem (that Microsoft won't try to fix or put any effort in to what so ever) has spotted that you have the same issue and spend time to help you troubleshoot it. You should know that Microsoft will never put forth any effort to fix their system errors or problem unless you pay for their time and even then you usually get the same "copy paste" resolutions from Microsoft like you received twice above. Frankly, that is just **** poor effort and support from Microsoft's end.
I have Windows 7 64 bit with service pack 1 and I had the same problem with netflix movies not playing and I used the "cmd" function exactly as you have it and it solved my problem instantly. I would like to thank you very much for this fix. No one else had a clue about what to do.
