unable to delete songs in windows media player

The song files are already deleted off of my recycle bin but i can not delete them off of windows media player. when i click on them they say "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I have had this problem before and i figured out how to delete them but i have no idea how i did it. i can't remember.

This is the reply that I received that solved my problem.

Hi,

This might be because of the corruption in Windows Media Player. Let’s try rebuilding the Media library and check if that helps.

** Shutdown windows media player. 

** Stop the media sharing service.  Go to Start >> Type in Services.msc in start search >> Right-click on the “Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service” and select Stop.

** Navigate to “c:\Users\”your username”\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player.  Now delete the files named CurrentDatabase_***.wmdb and LocalMLS_*.wmdb. 

** Start the media sharing service.

** Now start Windows Media Player and watch it build up your library again.

    Kenpaq,

        Your suggestion worked great.  I have all my tunes on a flash drive and am hoping my computer is faster without all the music on WMP.

    Right click on what folder???? I stopped windows media player but now what do i do? I cant seem to do the next steps...

    This post is ancient and even if we were to read right back through it we'd still only be guessing what your exact problem is...

    I have roughly 20,000 tracks in my library.  I have had to delete and rebuild the database multiple times.  Rebuilding the whole database because I can't delete a few songs is ridiculous.  Especially considering that WMP will always crash when cataloguing that many files, so you must move the library and copy back a little at a time, reopening WMP whenever it starts to glitch out...  (The display will get gradually more garbled, then it will "encounter and error and need to close".)  There needs to be a better way.
