unable to delete songs in windows media player

The song files are already deleted off of my recycle bin but i can not delete them off of windows media player. when i click on them they say "Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted." I have had this problem before and i figured out how to delete them but i have no idea how i did it. i can't remember.

This is the reply that I received that solved my problem.

Hi,

This might be because of the corruption in Windows Media Player. Let’s try rebuilding the Media library and check if that helps.

** Shutdown windows media player. 

** Stop the media sharing service.  Go to Start >> Type in Services.msc in start search >> Right-click on the “Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service” and select Stop.

** Navigate to “c:\Users\”your username”\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player.  Now delete the files named CurrentDatabase_***.wmdb and LocalMLS_*.wmdb. 

** Start the media sharing service.

** Now start Windows Media Player and watch it build up your library again.

    And just when I was about to put my fist through my monitor, I find this posted question from Bell Lara and the subsequent answer! Thank you, thank you, a thousand times, thank you!

    It took a few seconds for the directions to sink in but, I finally got my brain wrapped around it and, Viola...Media Player and library are back to normal!

    This problem has been driving me around the bend for god knows how long. I didn't think to do a google for the solution until this morning and then I found this. I've got two words for you, THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Okay so that is four words but you get where I'm going. Keep up the great work. And once more thank you for your help.

    I know this answers been posted a long time but i just found it when needed most. Not only is your answer a perfect solution but excellently described.

    I've been getting frantic trying to figure out why I can't clear the music and this worked perectly.

    I tried a few other options including some from official replies from Microsoft in other forum threads but this is the only way that I was able to fix my WMP 12 library in Win 7 Pro.  Many thanks.
