Typing Issues (Jumping cursor...moves my text to another line while typing)

Someone please help with this Issue!!!  Everytime I type my cursor jumps around and I have to keep going back and deleting and retyping.  Please help

I have a sony VAIO and this problem is driving me crazy

Hi Tim,

Are you using a laptop by chance?  If so, you can resolve this issue by taking a look at your touchpad options.  If you're using Windows 7, click the Start button, type Mouse in the search field, and click Enter.  There should be an option to change the Device Settings for the TouchPad.  On many models, Synaptics is the maker of the TouchPad and has a Tab of its own in the Mouse properties.  If you don't see these settings, you'll need to install the drivers from your manufacturers website. 

For Dell machines, you can go to support.dell.com.  Select your model and you'll find the driver under Input Device Drivers.  For Compaq/HP machines, go to support.hp.com, select your model and find Keyboard, Mouse and Input devices.

I like to disable the Tap option and raise the PalmCheck sensitivity option.   These are the first options I always change when I get a new laptop; otherwise I have the very same problem.

    I have been using a (French) Dell laptop for a few years without a problem. Recently, I started switching languages (by means of the language bar) so as to type text in Hebrew: it is only in that setting that the problem of the jumping inserting point occurs (very often), upon typing (slowly) on the keyboard keys (i.e., not using the visual keyboard). When switching back to French, it never does. I haven't yet been able to see whether or not it was a function of the key(s) being hit.

    This laptop runs Windows 7. I really dont understand this, as it seems to indicate it is a purely software problem. But it is very frustrating, as I have to watch very closely the screen when I type (rather than, say, the keyboard to find those keys and/or the text on paper which I am typing into the computer).

    My fix cost me money.  I finally just went out and bought a new laptop with a surface "disable touchpad" button.  If I start typing, I just hit that button and the touchpad is disabled.  When finished typing, I rehit the icon and the touchpad comes to life again.  My problem occurred in Win7 Ultimate and Home editions.  I'm a touch typist who can do over 140WPM and I guarantee you that my thumbs are not touching the touchpad at all.  It must be heat-sensitive.  Funny thing is that my old laptop with a touchpad and WinXP never had this problem.  Hmmmmmm

    I have been living with the same problem for a year. Is it possible to connect my old keyboard to my laptop when working at home? Would this partially solve the problem?
