Typing Issues (Jumping cursor...moves my text to another line while typing)

Someone please help with this Issue!!!  Everytime I type my cursor jumps around and I have to keep going back and deleting and retyping.  Please help

I have a sony VAIO and this problem is driving me crazy

Hi Tim,

Are you using a laptop by chance?  If so, you can resolve this issue by taking a look at your touchpad options.  If you're using Windows 7, click the Start button, type Mouse in the search field, and click Enter.  There should be an option to change the Device Settings for the TouchPad.  On many models, Synaptics is the maker of the TouchPad and has a Tab of its own in the Mouse properties.  If you don't see these settings, you'll need to install the drivers from your manufacturers website. 

For Dell machines, you can go to support.dell.com.  Select your model and you'll find the driver under Input Device Drivers.  For Compaq/HP machines, go to support.hp.com, select your model and find Keyboard, Mouse and Input devices.

I like to disable the Tap option and raise the PalmCheck sensitivity option.   These are the first options I always change when I get a new laptop; otherwise I have the very same problem.

    I greatly admire your calling a spade a MS! MS is a cowardly organization that consistently turns out half finished, chit os' because they are under the ridiculous opinion that no other os could ever touch their ivory ghetto. The palm rest issue happened to me for quite a while. However, it's some kind of electronic sensitivity emanating from the touchpad. I overcame the issue by using 1/8" think adhesive rubber padding to insulate the palm rests on either side of the pad, thus preventing breaking said sensitivity. It worked. I found black rubber padding ideally matched my E-6410 keyboard face. I've also used adhesive laptop decorative cover pieces for my customers (I repair pc's) but have found that they are either usually not thick enough, or the crappy paper thin design on them peels off too easily. If you get really fed up with MS Win crappola try Linux Mint Cinnamon. Powerful, VERY secure, 50000free apps, and it is 100% FREE! GL all!

    Hi Madonna99. Going to try that this morning. Just one thing. I have a Toshiba Satellite pro and I'm using windows 7. Not groing over towindows 10oing ove.

    I'm leaving this typing just to show what happens to my typing. Driving me mental. Would fn+f5 work for me? Abrazo.

    I had same problem with my windows 7.  I locked the touch pad.  When I switched to windows 10 the touchpad was on again...  I just enabled it by function keys F5 with the icon for touchpad.   fn + f5  clicked disable.    works great now!!!

    I have to add that you will never get a fix for something that is caused by the person using the machine!

    But you can stop the mouse moving very easyily if you intend to do a lot of typing in word or excel.

    On the keyboard of virtually all laptops is a row of keys marked with Function icons (these are at the top of the keyboard.

    Look carefully and you will see blue inscribed icons, these actions are accessed by pressing the Function key while holding the Blue "Fn" key which is in the bottom lefthand of the keyboard, usually alongside the Windows Key.

    What you need to do is action the Mouse Off and/or the Touchpad Off before you start typing and then toggle then back on when you have finished typing.   The effect of this is to turn off the Touch/Mouse button while you type.

    I realise it takes a few extra key presses to clear this mouse movement problem, but it has been designed into the keyboard and Mousepad for years but no one uses it!

    So get used to using it and life will be a lot better afterwards.
