Brand new ASUS twice now I have gotten the dreaded Blue Screen after starting my PC from Hibernate. Once I select start windows in normal mode it works fine. If I shut down totally and re-start it starts up fine no blue screen. Any ideas ??

Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft answers.

I would suggest you to update the drivers for your graphis card, here are the steps:

1.      Open Windows Update by clicking the Start button. In the search box, type Update, and then, in the list of results, click Windows Update.

2.      In the left pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows looks for the latest updates for your computer.

3.      If there are any available updates, click the link in the box under Windows Update to see more information about each update. Each type of update might include drivers.

4.      On the Select the updates you want to install page, look for updates for your hardware devices, select the check box for each driver that you want to install, and then click OK. There might not be any driver updates available.

5.      On the Windows Update page, click Install updates If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

If you cannot find the drivers, then go to manufacturer’s website download the latest drivers and install.

I had the exact same error too, but couldn't solve it. I completely reïnstalled windows to ensure it wasn't a software problem, but it kept happenning. The cooling of my graphics card seemed okay, but only when I started gaming it went just a tiny bit too hot. Cleaning my computer of dust didn't help either. My solution was to buy a new graphics card from the local hardware store. My PC worked like a charm ever since.

If you can draw the conclusion that the problem is your graphics card and cleaning it does not help, then buy a new one.

    Have the same error code:

    Problem Event Name:    BlueScreen

      OS Version:    6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3

      Locale ID:    2057

    Additional information about the problem:

      BCCode:    116

      BCP1:    858F9510

      BCP2:    91E04732

      BCP3:    C000009A

      BCP4:    00000004

      OS Version:    6_1_7601

      Service Pack:    1_0

      Product:    768_1

Files that help describe the problem:

      C:\Windows\Minidump\011514-23524-01.dmp

      C:\Users\G\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-46550-0.sysdata.xml

The computer never actually bluescreens - the screen just goes onto standby (at random intervals, regardless of what I'm doing) the computer is unresponsive with all the fans still running, forcing me to restart.

Have tried a complete reformat of my C drive followed by installing all the windows updates + the latest versions of all drivers. Temps at a steady 30-40c

I've had about 20 of these in the past three days. I've tried multiple drivers for my GPU, I've tried pulling out my RAM 1 by 1, the case is clean with no obstructions and all fans are working. About to do a clean install of windows but any info people can give would be helpful.Unexpected shutdownProblem signature:  Problem Event Name:    BlueScreen  OS Version:    6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3  Locale ID:    2057

I would try this, uninstall the graphics card, and delete the drivers if you can.

Remove the card from the case.

Restart the PC - hopefully you have an onboard graphics chip.

    Shutdown, unplug.

Since you've removed the card - this would be a good time to remove the dust with compressed air and clean the slot connectors (google how to do this if you haven't done it before).

Replace the card - Windows should now say that it has found new hardware.  If it doesn't say it found new hardware, that means that it remembers it and also remembers what is causing the problem.

In either case, reinstall the drivers.

If you are going to do a clean install, don't put the card in until after the install is completed.  Then when you put the card in, it will say found new hardware.

The theme here is you want to get to a point where windows sees the card as new hardware.
