Hi, Welcome to Microsoft answers forum. You can check for the sound drivers,whether they are installed correctly. if not uninstall them and install again. I suggest you to verify that the default sound device is set correctly Click Start,type Sound in the Start Search box. Click Sound in the search results at the top of the Start menu. Click the Playback tab. Notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users,the default device is Speakers. Make sure that your audio settings are configured as expected. Follow these steps: On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and make sure that the Default Format is set to the value that you expect. When you finish, close this window to return to the previous window. On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Configure, and then make sure the configurations are set correctly. If the sound settings are set correctly, you are using speakers as the sound device, and your speakers are already set as the default device, go to method 5 now. Select the sound device that you want as the default sound device, and then click Set Default. Click OK to save your settings and to close the Sound dialog box. Determine whether you can now hear sound. If you can hear sound, the issue is resolved. Hi - It's always nice when you find a solution that works for you, but suggesting users "Never check for updates" is poor advice as is suggesting "to uninstall all the updates of last 2-3 weeks". MS issue updates for good reason - not just for the sake of it - and it is mainly to do with keeping the system secure for everybody's benefit. The better course of action if you want to manage updates is to go to Control Panel-System-Windows Update and select Check For Updates and let me choose...etc but for the majority of users my advice would be leave it alone unless there is a problem. Not updating your system might appear to find a fix for one problem, but open up the potential for creating a whole lot more. You also state; "And one of the window update is affecting your system sound. Windows till now dont have a fix for this one." How about stating which one? They all have a KB (knowledge base) number.

If you go to -->> ( Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Change settings), you might see that that you have selected "Install updates automatically(recomended) for your PC. Because of this, every day new window updates are installed for your PC . And one of the window update is affecting your system sound. Windows till now dont have a fix for this one. So the best solution right now is to uninstall all the updates of last 2-3 weeks if you started facing this problem from last one week and change to "install updates option" to "Never check for updates".Your system will be ok after you do this.

You can check for the sound drivers,whether they are installed correctly.

I suggest you to verify that the default sound device is set correctly

you can also check performing clean boot.
