Hi, Welcome to Microsoft answers forum. You can check for the sound drivers,whether they are installed correctly. if not uninstall them and install again. I suggest you to verify that the default sound device is set correctly Click Start,type Sound in the Start Search box. Click Sound in the search results at the top of the Start menu. Click the Playback tab. Notice the check mark next to the default device. For most users,the default device is Speakers. Make sure that your audio settings are configured as expected. Follow these steps: On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Properties, click the Advanced tab, and make sure that the Default Format is set to the value that you expect. When you finish, close this window to return to the previous window. On the Playback tab, select the playback device, click Configure, and then make sure the configurations are set correctly. If the sound settings are set correctly, you are using speakers as the sound device, and your speakers are already set as the default device, go to method 5 now. Select the sound device that you want as the default sound device, and then click Set Default. Click OK to save your settings and to close the Sound dialog box. Determine whether you can now hear sound. If you can hear sound, the issue is resolved. I'm back again, only for say at problem is win7 vs programs... because im back with windows 7 to try, and all work fine the first day, i play music one and more time... but just my brother install "desktop blackberry" and stop system sound again!! :S problem fix? i dont know GOD give me a singal please!

Yes, this is not a problem of driver or hardware etc, for me, problem coming of other software modify system, you know why? because I try unistalling Itunes and QuickTime (with problem) and that stop, but later i install Microsoft Oficce 2010 and the problem persist again! :S ... I try unistalling again MCO2010 and problem dont leave more!! I think with the unique metod is (Restore System) but I dont was restore so... I choice format my HardDisk to XP again... that is terrible problem in W7 because 2/4 part of system is multimedia motion and sound stop any hour.. that sucks! .. One posible solution (or better named, best compatible) is go to BIOS and if you have Realtek put HD Sound Divices "enable" and not Automatic .. i repeat "posible".. conlusión, if you have same problem, dont install ever Itunes+Quicktime and MCO2010 sorry guys to liked! try use other programs..

This is not a sound driver problem. This is something with Windows 7 or how W7 interacts with other software. The sound is JUST FINE for a period of time (long or short), then it dies. And a re-boot brings it back. For me, when the sound dies, two different audio drivers both go dead. For me, the cause is reproducible when playing music and it pauses or is disrupted. The sound goes dead every time.

I also starting having this problem only after upgrading to Windows 7. This doesn't seem like a driver problem to me either. I have two different sound drivers, one for built in laptop speaker and one for sound jack on docking station. When the sound dies, they both die. If sound is playing, and it is disrupted for some reason, Windows just seems to forget to make sound. I always have to reboot, and rebooting works every time. I have a streaming audio site I listen to a lot, and that sometimes hiccups and gets stuck buffering. That will cause the sound to die. But other things will do the same; youtube for instance. If the playback is paused or disrupted, the sound dies. If the playback keeps going, there's no problem. If the playback ends normally, that doesn't seem to cause a problem either. I think the problems I've had are while using flash-based internet players, but I couldn't swear that's 100%. I have not tried the workaround to uninstall itunes/quicktime. I also use itunes quite a lot and really want to avoid that.
