How do I copy home movies on a DVD to my computer?

Home made (non-copy protected) DVDs are easy...

just insert the DVD in your DVD drive...go to...Start /

Computer...right click the icon for the DVD Drive and

choose Explore...you should see the directory of the DVD.

Now...copy/paste or drag/drop...the 'VIDEO_TS' folder

from the DVD to a new folder (renamed to the name of

the corresponding DVD) on your hard drive and that's it.

If you had VLC Media Player on your system (for example)

you could right click the VIDEO_TS folder and choose...

"Play With VLC Media Player" and the video will play.

These files can be several Gigabytes so copying can take

some time...have patience.

    go to the left of the file explorer and click on the dvd drive

    Not sure why this message came to my email. I'm not having this problem. The guy that made my DVD said it was not protected and that I was welcome to make copies if I wanted to do that. I did and when I tried to play the copy on my Cyberlink Power Media Player 14 that came with my Windows 10-64 new computer, it would not play. It gave an error message that it wouldn't recognize that type of disc. Now I have been working with Cyberlink trying to get the problem fixed.

    Thanks for the note but that is not my problem. Maybe I wasn't clear previously. I had some old home movies copied to a dvd by a professional. I asked if I could copy his disc and make more copies. He said that his was NOT protected and that I was welcome to make copies. I burned a copy and when I tried to play it on Power Media Player 14 it would not play and gave an error saying that it didn't support that type of disc. I made the copy on a DVD+R disc. I gave that disc to my daughter who played it on her computer without any problem She also made additional copies of that disc for me and they play on her computer. Somewhere in this Power Media Player 14 is a problem that I have been trying to get fixed by dealing with Cyberlink directly. They keep giving me things to do and some work and some are hard to understand because it appears they are foreign and there is a language barrier of sorts. This has been ongoing for a couple of weeks and I am making slow progress with them. Just as an FYI, I also tried to play another disc I have that was made on a DVD-R and that won't play either.
