How do I copy home movies on a DVD to my computer?

Home made (non-copy protected) DVDs are easy...

just insert the DVD in your DVD drive...go to...Start /

Computer...right click the icon for the DVD Drive and

choose Explore...you should see the directory of the DVD.

Now...copy/paste or drag/drop...the 'VIDEO_TS' folder

from the DVD to a new folder (renamed to the name of

the corresponding DVD) on your hard drive and that's it.

If you had VLC Media Player on your system (for example)

you could right click the VIDEO_TS folder and choose...

"Play With VLC Media Player" and the video will play.

These files can be several Gigabytes so copying can take

some time...have patience.

    Sorry that you obviously had a bad experience with VLC but many users on this forum use it without issue (including me) - it enables users to do stuff they can't with Windows.

    However there are different sites you can download it from - maybe you made an unlucky choice. Do you still have a link to the site you took it from?

    (I do not work for vlc etc and have no vested interests etc. etc!)

    The VLC suggestion came with malware. I had to rebuild my computer.
