How to copy DVD to computer

The freeware VLC Media Player can Record anything

that it is currently playing:

(FWIW...it's always a good idea to create a System

Open a Video in VLC and go to...View / Advanced Controls.

Four buttons will appear at the left bottom of the view screen.

Record - Snapshot - Loop - Frame by frame

(FWIW...Frame by frame and Snapshot can be useful in

making screen captures)

To record, just advance the video to the portion you wish

to record and press the Record button.

Pressing the Record button a second time will stop the record.

The clips are auto-saved in your Videos folder.

The filenames will be prefaced with vlc-record.

Its under "Open"

Home made (non-copy protected) DVDs are easy...

just insert the DVD in your DVD drive...go to...Start /

Computer...right click the icon for the DVD Drive and

choose Open or Explore...you should see the directory

of the DVD.

Now...copy/paste or drag/drop...the 'VIDEO_TS' folder

from the DVD to a new folder (renamed to the name of

the corresponding DVD) on your hard drive and that's it.

If you had VLC Media Player on your system (for example)

you could right click the VIDEO_TS folder and choose...

"Play With VLC Media Player" and the video will play.

These files can be several Gigabytes so copying can take

some time...have patience.
