Unable to Rip Audio CD using teh Media player, Windows 7 Ultimate.__Error Pop up : Windows Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD.

I am runing the Windows 7 Ultimate

And is unable to rip any audio muice CD into the library.

The pop up error:

Windows Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD.

This worked for me:

Open Windows Explorer -> right click music under libraries -> choose properties -> choose a valid folder for storing music... (mine was a network location)

Method 1:-

You might be able to complete the rip by turning on error correction.

> In Windows Media Player ->Click on Tools -> Options -> Devices, click the CD burner, choose> Advanced, and set the error correction to On.

Method 2:-

There are two ways to change rip settings while in the Player Library. You can insert a CD into your CD drive and click Rip settings, or you can click the Rip Music tab in the Options dialog box. The Rip Music tab in the Options dialog box offers additional options that aren't available on the Rip settings menu.

To rip music from a CD, do the following:

1.      For best results, make sure that you are connected to the Internet before you begin.

When your computer is connected to the Internet, the Player attempts to retrieve media information about the tracks being ripped from an online database. The Player then adds the information to the files during ripping.

Note that you can rip a CD when your computer isn't connected to the Internet. However, the Player won't be able to identify the name of the CD, the artist who created it, or the names of the songs until you go online.

2.      Insert an audio CD into the CD drive.

3.      (Optional) If you want to select a different format (for example, MP3 instead of WMA) or bit rate (for example, 192 Kbps instead of 128 Kbps) for the files created during ripping, in the Player Library, click the Rip settings menu, and then click Format or Audio Quality.

4.      (Optional) If you don't want to rip every song, in the Player Library, clear the check boxes next to the songs you don't want to rip.

5.      Click the Rip CD button in Now Playing mode or Rip CD in the Player Library to begin ripping.

    I tried the above but couldn't actually access my Music Library, Video Libary or Pictures Library in Windows Explorer:

    "music.library-ms" is no longer working

    Etc etc..

    Having no access to The Music Library was the reason none of my CD's would Rip in Windows Media Player.

    So.. I found the solution.  Go into "Windows Explorer", right click on the music library and press delete.  (This won't delete any files you have in there, just the folder)

    If, like me, you had a dodgy Video and Pictures library too, delete those too.  Then on the left pane, right click on "Libraries" and "Restore default libraries".  This brought me working libraries again and when I tried to rip the next CD it worked fine  :-)

    THIS!!!  I have been struggling with the inability to change the "Rip To" location and thus inability to rip CD's for nearly a year, having tried all previous suggested solutions to no avail.  Your solution is the one that worked, and saved me a whole helluva lot of back-up, reinstallation and restoration work.  Much thanks!

    I've got the same problem. Have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium and cannot rip a CD and the box showing where to rip to in empty (and I can't get it to accept anything).I've tried error correction, deleting libraries and starting over, running a scan from command prompt - none of them work. Am ready to now buy a mac cause windows is giving me the sh*ts

    I have the same problems.  Trying everything here but still cannot fix.

    i wasn't able to do any changes in the properties of the music folders. once followed your solution it started working again.
