WINDOWS 7 error The application has failed to start because the side by side configuration is incorrect please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail.

I am getting the error "

"WINDOWS 7 error The application has failed to start because the side by side configuration is incorrect please see the application event log or use the command line sxstrace.exe tool for more detail." for every application that i try to launch.

Please help with a fix.

Error message: "Side-by-side configuration is incorrect"

The machine is missing the correct C++ runtime components for your type of system. (x86 or x64).

Installing the following update resolved the issue.

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)

Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package for (x64)

    I am actually getting this on my home computer that is running Vista home version not windows 7 and i can not get into a lot of my programs it is saying ther same thing it is down to 9 mb of memory of 140 gb could this be the problem? this is a littl mini company lap top from work. thanks

    i am having this problem. i play the game league of legends and when i try to open the game it wont let me run it. this message pops up saying my side by side configuration is incorrect. it was running fine 2 days ago. how do i reconfigure it.

    Same issue here; almost all program stops functioning. Ironically, the fix suggested elsewhere about (re)installing a C++ library may work but I can't execute the .exe-file that I downloaded through one of the few programs starting (IE x64). Trying to do so only yields the same error message.

    I've done a disk check and a memory check, and I'm not seeing any problems with either. I did get a lot of error messages regarding the registry entries for several files on my system drive but exactly what those consisted of or which they were, I do not know.

    Having exact same problems.  Does anyone have a solution?
