HP Multi-function printers may not work as expected after upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7

Hello,

I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista and my HP multi-function printer doesn’t work. I can still print if I print from an application but when I try to use the buttons on the printer nothing happens. I also can’t check things like ink levels and I can’t scan. Is this a known issue? What can I do to fix this?

Hello Christi,

This is a known issue with the HP Solution Center and upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Basically the HP Solution Center doesn’t upgrade properly to Windows 7 because of some required libraries don’t get migrated during the upgrade. To resolve the issue, click Start, All Programs and click Windows Update, and then check for and install the update for KB 975891.

    All I have to say is roycew is a genius!!! I followed your instructions and was finally able to print after upgrading from vista to 7 a couple of months ago.  I have an HP officejet and I called HP a couple of times, which I was on the phone with them for hours and only made me more frustrated.  THANK YOU!     I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A NEW COMPUTER WITH WINDOW 7. I HAVE A WIRELESS CONECTION AND CAN PRINT WITH MY HP 7250 ALL IN ONE. HOWEVER I CAN NOT GET THE WINDOWS 7 TO SEE THE SCANNER. I HAVE ACCOMPLISH THE SUGESTED PROCEDURE TO TURN ON THE MICROSOFT IMAGE MANAGER FROM THE CHANGE OPTION IN THE REMOVE PROGRAM AREA. I HAVE TRIED CANNOT SEE THE SCANNER WITH WORD 2007 OR THE PAINTPROGRAM.

    I KNOW IT IS NOT THE SCANNER BECAUSE IT STILL WORKS JUST FINE WITH MY OLD XP COMPUTER AND THE WINDOWS 2000.
