How to turn on Sony Vaio built in Webcam on Windows 7

hi please can someone help as i can't figure out how to switch on the inbuilt webcam on my sony viao i'm on windows 7 !!!!!

Hi Sarah,

Steps to turn on integrated WebCam on Sony Vaio Laptop

a. Click on Start and then click on All programs.

b. Go all the way to the bottom until you see “Arcsoft Webcam companion”

c. Click on it and then click on Webcam companion 3 to turn your webcam.

That’s it.

Seems this is a common problem!!! How frustrating! Everything works and then it suddenly doesn't anymore... although you haven't actively changed any settings! And Sony hasn't been really helpful. I'll try finding the driver as described below. Fingers crossed!

Thanks but it's a hardware fault. The 2 month old laptop is back to Sony for repair....

Hi everyone... not sure what exactly I did but my webcam is working again. I think it had something to do with Skype. I removed Skype or atleast removed everything that appeared to be Skype. Cleaned the registry and made changes...Mistake (don't do that!!!). I noticed things were missing so I restored all changes. Skype came back but somehow this time it was different (didn't have my name and password stored). I was later able to log back into Skype, the camera there worked and now I can open my webcam without being on Skype as well. Not sure what I did...sorry! Good Luck all.
