hi please can someone help as i can't figure out how to switch on the inbuilt webcam on my sony viao i'm on windows 7 !!!!!

Hi Sarah,

Steps to turn on integrated WebCam on Sony Vaio Laptop

a.    Click on Start and then click on All programs.

b.    Go all the way to the bottom until you see “Arcsoft Webcam companion”

c.    Click on it and then click on Webcam companion 3 to turn your webcam.

That’s it.

    I am absolutely agree - there is something wrong with this program of Sony! I am suspecting that it has to do with an updates that Sony automatically has to be fixing without people getting all upset and sending whole bunch of complaints...

    If you are user of Sony VAIO VGN-FZ11M model: PCG-381M then you can remove VISTA and install windows 7 Professional. Some people thinks, this model will not work with windows 7 professional but you can use it. You can install windows Vista drivers on windows 7 professional. It will work except webcam. But you can also download the webcam drivers from below link and enjoy: -

    Hello,

    We had to replace  the hard-drive in our Sony Vario laptop and after upgrading our it to windows 7 from Vista, we cannot use the built-in camera on the laptop. Tried installing the driver for the camera (win7 version) from Sony's website but it seems the driver is only for Vista version!

    Any suggestions?

    I have the VPCSE16FX and the camera did not show up in Device Manager.

    Installing the older ArcSoft WebCam Companion 3 restored my camera as well.

    A recurring "unknown device" in USB controllers disappeared.
