hi please can someone help as i can't figure out how to switch on the inbuilt webcam on my sony viao i'm on windows 7 !!!!!

Hi Sarah,

Steps to turn on integrated WebCam on Sony Vaio Laptop

a.    Click on Start and then click on All programs.

b.    Go all the way to the bottom until you see “Arcsoft Webcam companion”

c.    Click on it and then click on Webcam companion 3 to turn your webcam.

That’s it.

    hey, im also having the same problem. it was working fine before and not skype is not detecting my built in webcam, and is suggesting i add the correct directx.

    i installed arcsoft web companion 3 and its still not detecting a webcam.

    any more ideas..?/

    Hello, I'm having a similar problem.

    I have a Sony VAIO laptop with a built-in webcam, OS being Windows 7.

    Up till now, Webcam Companion 3 was working just fine; all the functions worked perfectly. Today, though, I started the program and got this message "A webcam was not found or is not working properly. Please click Connect button and try again".

    After clicking said button, I got a second message "Camera not found. The camera is either being used by another application or is not connected. Make sure the camera is connected and working properly, and try again".

    I don't know why the program isn't working anymore. But after reading people complaining they tried to use it with Skype, I do remember I used Skype today, but I DID NOT use the webcam WITH Skype. I only logged on to see if there was anyone online, I didn't try a webcam chat or anything.

    Nothing is running right now, except for my browser, and the program still won't detect the webcam.

    Can someone help, please? Thanks in advance.

    hey team!!

    i got it sussed... mine works now! wooohoooo. 

    so, someone above said i need to re-install the camera driver.. so i searched on sony viao websites looking for drivers. 

    now since my laptop was purchased in thailand i needed to go to the thai sony site before i could find upgrades available for my laptop model. i checked on the main sony site and couldnt find my model or series in the list.. so this is the first point. make sure your in the correct countires website for sony. 

    then, once i did a search for my model, i found a list of updgrades within whcih there was one called, 'original drivers'. within here i then found the camera driver for my model for windows vista (thats what it came with) anyway i downloaded it and it works. and it also now works on skype. 

    RELIEF!!!

    sorry for intruding, i would just like to ask if you are able to fix your problem regarding your sony laptop webcam issues.. because i am having the same problem right now and  don't know what to do anymore...thanks in advance :)
