How to turn on Sony Vaio built in Webcam on Windows 7

(PLZ READ TILL LAST WORD B4 FOLLOWING THE PROCEDURE) hi, i have sony vaio vgn cr34 with Windows Vista installed when i bought it. i recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. i encountered the same problem, webcam was not working at all. i went to "www.sony-asia.com/support" as VGN CR series was marketed specifically in Asia. on the right middle side of page, therez a box wid a heading " find support for your model". below this heading type your vaio model no and click "Go". next page will show your laptop model wid different headings. on the middle right side there is a "Search" bar. type "original drivers" in search bar and enter go. next page will give you a long list of options, look out for "Original drivers for vgn-cr34(in my case) or which ever model is your vaio laptop". a new tab will pop up in which there will be list of different drivers to download. click on "skip to download section" on right side written in blue color. now you ll have the list in downloadable mode. look for "camera driver" and "intel chipset software installation utility" and click on blue color download icon on right side in front of each these drivers. once downloaded, click on camera driver "exe" and follow the procedure. if you r lucky, ur webcam will get installed by dis procedure, otherwise it ll give the msg tht dis software is not compatible with this windows, bcoz this software is particularly for windows vista. now try the 2nd option, run the "chipset" file and it automatically detect ur webcam and install it. to confirm it, run skype n check it if its working. otherwise right click on "my computer" n click on properties. a new window ll pop up, click on "device manager" in left top corner, a new window ll pop up, look for "imaging devices" in the list, double click it and it will show you "Sony Visual Communication Camera(with model no)", which means that it is installed successfully. keep this in mind, that if u r not in asia, u ll have to look for sony vaio support website which supports ur locality and vaio model, thats easy, in google search bar, type" sony vaio (model no) drivers" n it will search out website for ur particular vaio model, then follow the above procedure. i hope this works for you. good luck n good bye... Marigrc2...I verified my driver...it is the most updated version.  Device manager shows Sony Visual Communication Camera is workly properly!  ha ha.. ok.. But it doesn't work!!!  HELP! 

I can turn on the webcam companion 3.  I click on capture.  The green light turns on.  The picture box is there but no picture...just black.  Could this be a computer problem..i.e  the camera needs to be replaced or is it a software issue? Also there's a message that states components of ArcSoft Magic i-Visual Effect are being used by another application.  I do have Skype and I used to Skype with video with no problem until recently.   I have until November before my extended warranty plan expires so I could send it in to have the camera replaced BUT I need my computer for work and it will take 2-4 weeks.  Marigrc or ANYONE..PLEASE ADVISE.  Thanks in Advance :)

I do not have Arcsoft Webcam companion on my Sony Viao.

Thanks ...but my sony visual communication camera still didnt appear after scanning in device manager settings and imaging devices tab wasnt there wud it be under a different name?......what kind of service would i need now?
