click start button and type "msconfig" and hit enter. When open goto startup tab and un-tick the program with name of "windows live" or "iexplore.exe" and hit apply and close. Hope it will help!

    This is not the only solution available.  You can also follow these steps:

    Launch MS Excel 20** then -

    • File > Options > Advanced
    • [ x ] Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)

    This will, of course, stop your data feeds that keep your reports and spread-sheet alive. 

    If this happens to you, as it did me, so far Microsoft is so busy putting out Windows 8 fires that its not bothering to fix things like this.

    Keep clicking OKAY.  It doesn't hurt anything.

    Also, if your antivirus is set to dive in early on boot ups, this may also be a contributing factor, but its going to take more time researching this than I have.  So I just continue to click OKAY.

    MS: If you have some time... Please help us fix this issue.

    My configuration:

    I have Office 2010 running Excel with live feeds from MS Dynamics, using the excel plug in.  I love the software!  Dynamics is awesome!  Been using Excel nearly my whole professional life.  But this message is very annoying and we would like to make it go away.

    I found a way to solves this, hope it is useful for you.

    1, click on the "start"--"search programs and files" box, type: "services.msc" then enter

    2, in the "services (local)", find "Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant", right-click it, and select "Properties"

    3, in the "General" tab, in the Middle of it there is a "Startup type" should be displayed as "automatic", click on the small black triangle on its right side, in the drop-down menu, select "manual", then click "OK" at the bottom of the tab .

    (Note: do not select "disable", will cause the Windows Live programs such as Mail, Messenger can not start)

    Next time you start Windows, "Windows Live ID Sign-in Assistant...144689 " this alert message won't pop-up to bother you.

    THIS SOLUTION WORKED

    Hey LHN 12345,

    A suggestion around that would be to totally uninstall it and then re-install it. I pulled the direct link to re-install itright hereif you would like to try it. To uninstall it completely, just go Start-> Control Panel->  Programs-> Uninstall a Program-> Then select Microsoft Live Essentials.

    Hope this helped, let me know your status after you try this!
