Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service

Whenever I try to check for solutions in the action center of Windows 7, I get the following error message: Problem connecting to the Windows Error Reporting service. Some of the reports could not be uploaded to the Windows Error Reporting service. Please try again later.

This issue started appearing a few days ago, even though I didn't make any changes in my computer. I don't have any firewall (except for the default Windows firewall) and all my other programs work just fine on the Internet.

Any ideas what might cause the issue?

Problem solved.

I actually had to purge all the existing reports using the Disk Cleanup utility.

But this just removes the error being reported that is causing the problem.  I get this error also and it seems to be certain problems that cause the issue whereas other errors in error log are able to upload information.  The errors that remain in bold type are the ones that can't be reported.  Microsoft needs to fix this.  I think it is errors that have a MEMORY.DMP and it doesn't want to upload hundreds of MB.  I've checked and each MEMORY.DMP also has a corresponding minidump.  Why not upload that one?  Still too big a file?

I use Internet Explorer as the default web browser and there are no proxies configured.

The Network Diagnostics Tool also didn't detect any problem.

This issue seems to confined to the Windows Error Reporting service, since I don't have any other problems with my computer.

    Any other ideas?

    Hi Sbiro,

Sorry that the issue still persists!

Are you using Internet Explorer as the default browser?

Check if the proxy setting for your computer has been changed. If that is changed you might not be able to connect to secured sites.

To check for the proxy settings follow the steps:

    1.      Open Internet Explorer.

    2.      Go to Tools Menu.

    3.      Select Internet Options.

    4.      Go to Connections tab and click on LAN Settings.

    5.      Check if proxy setting has been enabled, if so disable it and now check if you are able to connect.

You may also run the Network Diagnostic Tool and see if that helps.

    1.      Click on Start.

    2.      In the Start Search Bar type Troubleshooting.

    3.      Select Network and Internet.

    4.      Click on Internet Connections.

    5.      Follow the on screen instructions.

Now check if you are able to accomplish what you want.

    Hope this information is helpful.
