network printer shows offline

In windows vista my cable network printer shows offline now. Everything else is fine i can still go onto the internet etc. ??

right click on (Network)Printer , choose Properties , go to Ports tab, choose Configure Port , then un-check SNMP Status Enable option,

I had same problem and this solution solved for me, hope this will help for u.

    I have an acer laptop. running Windows 8. and have a remote printer HP Deskjet 2540.  It shows as offline and doesn't print .  It did when I set it up but not since.  The buttons on the printer are always on, can't seem to shut it off.  I would like it to print things from my computer.  I tried going to configure port and it says not advised, besides did not see SNMP Status Enable option.  Hoping you can help explain how to fix.
