Troubleshooting browser crashes or performance issues on Windows 10
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Yesterday, I wanted to clean up my favorites in Edge (remove duplicates, remove obsolete links). In the midst of this, Edge closed without warning or error message. When I restarted Edge, it closed immediately. I could not select the three dots in the top right. It closed too quickly.
I found several possible solutions including tools in the Settings/Apps menu, other fixes involving removing and then reinstituting the %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge_8wekyb3d8bbwe directory
None of these fixes worked.
When I restart Edge, it closes immediately.
How can I get it to work properly?

Still getting this happening. Is very annoying cause MS tends to try to open edge for a lot of things.
When I open Microsoft Edge it opens but close in few seconds
My pleasure. I originally was keeping them by renaming the folder, but that was a waste of space. So now I just delete them. Edge will repopulate what it needs anyways. I do import/link to my Google account as well every time I delete the folder and start over. All of my Favorites come back, as well as my stored passwords.
I use the latest Dev Canary builds of Win11. Mine has been fine for the last month or so, then the latest build did it again for about 1 day. I force-closed Edge, deleted the Edge User Data folder, re-opened Edge. Sync'd all my favorites, and it's working again. For how long? Who knows. :-)
I tried everything and only thing worked for me was to use, revo uninstaller free to uninstall and delete every trace of microsoft edge in registry, reinstalled it and it working perfectly now.
