How do I remove Edge from my computer completely?

I have Windows 10 Pro running my computer and would like to completely get rid of Edge. I don't use it and don't plan on ever using it so it's basically just a nuisance to me. Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, it isn't possible to get rid of Edge completely. However, you can install some other web browser and set it as the system default.

    Didn't the Justice Department in the US win a case against Microsoft some years ago for this very thing - that they could not force you to use their browser?

    I for one keep it as silent as possible, but occasionally it suddenly rears its unwanted head, and suddenly it tries to make itself the default browser.

    Maybe its time to return to Linux.

    I used Edge for a couple of years and enjoyed the experience until it started persistently opening background processes even after I unchecked all the options in the settings.

    This worked for me, it's not a permanent kill, but it makes it hard for this sucker to run in the background whenever it wants and hog resources.

    1. Pin the Microsoft Edge folder to Quick Access - "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe"
    2. Shift + DELETE the files from that folder
    3. Set your default browser to anything else in the settings
    4. Delete BING from the search engines in your more efficient and less shady browser.
    5. Periodically check Task manager for Edge processes and Microsoft Edge WebView 2 tasks (WebView 2 runs some apps like office but I use it on browser so I do the same with the WebView 2 folder. DELETE the bastard)
    6. Avoid using the Microsoft Store as much as possible

    ProTip: Check the folder you pinned to Quick Access, as the sleazeball of Edge may eventually re-download and install all the deleted files.

    Microsoft, just stop doing this. Let the users decide whether to run your bloated-resource-hogging browser or not.

    OK, so you want us to have it installed because you want it.

    But how can we prevent it from running? A software should not run except the user launches it.
