How to remove frame around Add a Text box on pdf in Edge?

The most recent update to Microsoft Edge (133.0.3065.51), now puts a frame/box around text when adding text to a pdf. How to remove this? It doesn't appear to be an accessibility setting.

Based on your description, I understand that you have found that Microsoft Edge (133.0.3065.51) adds a frame around the text when adding text to a PDF, and I understand how you feel!

Please allow me to explain that I am just a support person on the forums and not a member of the Microsoft Edge development team.

Thank you very much for your feedback my friend, I see that there are very many users with the same problem.

So I immediately tested it via my laptop and reproduced the issue without any problem.

But the good news is that I found a solution to this problem.

Here is a distribution step I wrote.

  1. Open the Edge browser.
  2. Type "edge://flags" in the search bar at the top.
  3. When the page opens, type in and search for PDF.
  4. Set “New PDF Viewer” to “Enabled”.
  5. Check whether the problem still exists.

Because in my test environment, I enabled this setting and the problem disappeared.

Assuming that there are users who have enabled the “New PDF Viewer” feature in their settings, we can also try to disable it to see if the problem still exists.

    Make sure you click the "restart" button on the bottom of the screen to apply the new settings or it won't work. Got me twice until i noticed it! (:

    I have tried to disable and enable but cannot get rid of the border. Almost became a victim of a scammer while searching the internet for tech support. Very frustrating day.

    THANK YOU!!! not only was the box there, but it covered up some of the text making it hard to read. better to not have the box, and why someone would think it was a good idea.... well they are dumb. Don't try to improve something that you don't use....otherwise you would have noticed it isn't right. OR maybe even then they would not have noticed??? either way, it removed the box!!!! Now you can understand what is typed on the page. :)
