Edge unwantedly adding border around text

When I add text to a pdf in edge, suddenly it it adding a box around the text. It doesn't show up until I hit enter. It's super annoying and I'm sure I did something to turn it on but I can't figure out how to turn it off.

  1. Open the Edge browser.
  2. Type "edge://flags" in the search bar at the top.
  3. When the page opens, type in and search for PDF.
  4. Set “New PDF Viewer” to “Enabled”.
  5. Check whether the problem still exists.

This worked for me.

I'm seeing the same issue on various computers. The version of Edge is the same (133.0.3065.51) on affected and unaffected systems.

Resetting Edge does not resolve the issue.

    Please remove the annotation text box or at least make it a selectable option. If anything, the box needs to have more text padding, because it covers the first character. I have to add a space before the first character to at least make it legible.
