How can I get Edge to restore all the tabs I had open last session?

Yeah well it doesn't work and I'm not installing Chrome to fix it either and take up mote of my memory. It's up to Microsoft ti to fix the problems they caused.

That's exactly what happened to me more than once. Sometimes I visit sites that open a popup window which stands hidden behind the main window, which is where I have all my tabs open.

If and when I close my main window, only then I realize there is another window behind. No solution. If I close that window, Edge/Microsoft considers THAT as my last session. Next time I open Edge, I have a single tab opened, with Home page, and I have all my tabs lost.

Going to History doesn't solve the problem entirely. Although I am able to open some of my tabs, there are tabs I have that I have not visited form more than two weeks. Those are completely lost. This behavior should be changed. A session should comprehend ALL windows opened (or else, have an option to save a configuration that has all tabs of a certain session).

Also, despite I have tabs grouped, I have no way to save groups. If I had that, at least I could restore my groups of tabs - that would solve most of the problem. I can save them in Workspaces, but then they disappear from my main session, and to access them I have to open the workspace in a new window. Seriously, who came up with this convoluted way?

Another con: Worksapce windows don't have the favorites. How dumb is this implementation...

If I shut down the PC without closing Edge then it does prompt me to restore as it should. If I close Edge manually with several tabs open then I have tio go into the history and select alll I want to open. Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to work or not but at least you don’t have to open each one individually. Only takes a few seconds.

Apart from configuring it in Settings, you can also use the --restore-last-session command line parameter.

For example, set the Target in a shortcut to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\Edge\Application\msedge.exe" "--restore-last-session"

In this History "Recently closed", it seems that there are 2 types of entries in the list.

1. Individual Page visits
2. Browser Window Instances that have a triangle to the left of their name

(in this screenshot, Edge Windows are yellow-highlighted)

So in my case, after rebooting without closing my 3 Open, and named, Edge windows, on restarting Edge, it only opened 2 of my windows. However I found the 3rd one in this list, and was able to right-click Open in New Window, and there were all my tabs.

A recommendation for Microsoft is that

1. Notice that these Window entries in History List are not retaining the "NAME" of the window I assigned, they are named like one of the tabs. So it makes it hard to recognize and find the previously open window.
2. Consider adding a feature such that whenever a user assigns a NAME to an Edge Window, that Edge persists that name in it's local storage, along with all of the child tabs. Then instead of finding it in History, there could be a place in the UI to maintain your list of Named Edge Windows.

A Name can be assigned by right-click the Edge title bar and choosing "Name window..."
