360 videos in WMR not working

Hello,

I'm having issues with the new Microsoft edge playing 360/vr videos in WMR. First of all, to get an option to play vr video I have to go through that app "360 videos" in the cliff house. Finding a 360 video via youtube in edge directly doesn't work because the goggle icon on the bottom of the screen is missing. However, if I start any of the offered 360 videos via the cliff house 360 video app, that opens youtube video in the edge, and now the goggle icon is present. This allows me to play VR videos, but really this doesn't work either because the videos are very choppy. I did not have this issue prior to the new edge installation. I'm using Samsung Odyssey+. Any suggestions to solve this issue?

After looong trial and error,.....

Start with a reboot, Googles HDMI connected, USB disconnected (after completed boot),....plug in Goggles (USB), .......

Make sure Mixed Reality Portal NOT running and controllers are not connected to your computer (bluetooth)

On Desktop, run Microsoft Edge> go to youtube select a 360 video, you'll see the Goggle Icon , click it to enter VR,

now Mixed Reality Portal will start, ....put on your Goggles and enjoy the video.

After that you can select any other 360 video and it will work as long as all control stays with the desktop.

REPEAT:

All control has to stay with the desktop, otherwise it will not work.

Controllers have to stay disconnected, otherwise it will throw you back into the Cliff House

Hope this helps, and please,.....Microsoft,.....GET IT FIXED !!!

My setup:

Samsung Odyssey+

Win 10 v21H1 (Os Build 19043.1055), i7-9750H, Nvidia RTX 2060, 32GB

(All latest Drivers)

Good news - we've identified the issue with the Samsung Odyssey controllers and have a fix for it. It will take about a week or two before the fix is released in a Microsoft Edge Canary build. When that happens, I will update this thread with the version number you need to have the fix.

franky_TK and N. R.N., I expect this will fix the issue you're experiencing since you both use the Samsung Odyssey.

Warrie - since you're using a G2 Reverb, I don't expect this fix to affect what you're observing. We're now looking into the issue you're experiencing with it. When convenient for you, can you please answer the questions at the bottom of page 3? This will help track down where the issue is coming from.

Thank you everyone for your continued patience as we work to get WebXR working for everyone.

    -Patrick

Hello, sorry for the silence, and thanks for your interest! We've been fixing bugs that prevented this from working. Can you share the Edge version number you're on - that would be the string from edge://version like "87.0.664.75 (Official build) (64-bit)".

    Thanks

    Arvind

This is not working for me despite having the same issues, please update us on a fix or something. I clearly am not the only one here having issues. I have no idea how a feature goes from completely functional to bricked.

also seems that  8k vr 360's are actually pleasent to watch . we just need a one view insted of a top and bottom . keep up the good work👍
