Password import edge not working

I have an other workaround, that works surprisingly well:

You export the passwords to a csv file in edge.

Then you install google chrome.

Go to chrome://flags -> enable import passwords

Import the passwords into chrome from the edge_passwords.csv (or whatever name u have given)

Then you open the new edge and go to settings -> import browser data

You want to select Import From Google Chrome - passwords only

and your passwords should be imported.

I've tried this on different devices already (we also have to move a few installations of old pcs to new pcs) and so far it worked.

This workaround is not new, it has been written many times in this thread and it works for some people but doesn't work for many other. It doesn't work for me.

Chrome is also not syncing with Google and both not importing from CSVs!!! I'm guessing this a common code base problem!!!

Also, both Edge & Chrome didn't store my manually added password, so looks like the storage mechanism is messed up.

I hear ya. What kills me is that they are so like the government, where the motto is "it works? Let's find a way to break it!" They are also like retailers in general where if there is a feature that people really like and depend on, they take it away.

Listen up Microsoft, BRING IT BACK! You're hurting the very people who use your products! Until you do, I'll go elsewhere.

Looks like I've found a solution.

In Edge, settings -> profiles -> Import browser data ->Import from other password managers -> Import passwords. Looks like there is an option for CSV import and it opens up a dialog box that allows for selecting your csv.

I didn't have a need for this so couldn't verify.

By the time they get it fixed I will have saved all of my passwords again already! And I pay online utilities for 22 homeowner's association, so a lot of passwords saved! Uggg
